SAP Building Regulations

South West Air Energy are fully qualified and accredited SAP Assessors. We provide calculations for:

  • New Build Dwellings
  • Conversions
  • Extensions (where the amount of glazing is deemed high)
  • Calculations for heat pumps
  • Whole house renovation energy assessment and advice

Air Leakage Testing

What is air leakage?

Uncontrolled ventilation through gaps and cracks within the dwelling fabric which can account for a significant proportion of heat loss. We are able to provide the following services:Air Leakage Testing equipment Testing equipment in situ

Pre-Test Inspections and Testing:

An Inspection and or test, prior to the final leakage test, by our air tightness consultants who scrutinize the 'air barrier' details throughout the building, all observations and test results are discussed on site/with the design team and can be conveyed in a detailed illustrated report

Final Air Leakage testing:

The final test includes all necessary building envelope calculations and is carried out using fully calibrated equipment and qualified air tightness testers

Code For Sustainable Homes

What is the Code for Sustainable Homes?

It is an assessment of a new development defining its overall impact on the environment and comprises 34 different elements which are grouped under the following  headings:

  • Energy and carbon dioxide emissions;
  • Water;
  • Materials;
  • Surface water run- off;
  • Waste;
  • Pollution;
  • Health & Well being;
  • Management
  • Ecology.

We work in close collaboration with the designer, developer and client, to advise on the most time and cost efficient means of reaching the required rating. There are three stages to a CSH assessment all of which involve assessment of the site, specification and plan drawings of the development. These stages are:

  • Pre-assessment of development
  • Design Stage assessment
  • Post Construction stage assessment
Water Efficiency Calculations

Part G Water Efficiency calculations and advice
(Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) WAT 1 Calculations)

We are pleased to announce the expansion of our water calculator service and can now include Part G calculations as well as current CSH calculations for your development.

Stuck on what bath, shower, sinks etc.... you can fit? As well as providing the overall calculations fully compliant with building regulations. We can look at your planned options and help you choose the right options that will meet the Part G requirements.

This requirement comes into effect from October 2010 all new and converted dwellings will be required to prove the efficiency of all appliances in the home which use water.

Building Regulation 17K Part G2 requires that the potential consumption of wholesome water by persons occupying a dwelling must not exceed 125 litres per person per day when calculated in accordance with CLG's document 'The Water Efficiency Calculator for New Dwellings'
